It appears the New York Giants will be undergoing a makeover on their offensive line.  Sources confirmed the Giants will release longtime fixtures Shaun O’Hara and Rich Seubert.

Both are coming off offseason surgeries and there was the possibility that they might not be ready for the season opener.

O’Hara will be released, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter confirmed. ProFootballTalk.com first reported the release. O’Hara, 34, has been the Giants’ starting center for the past seven years but appeared in only six games last season due to foot and ankle injuries, both of which were operated on.

The Giants told Seubert he will be released, as first reported by The (Newark) Star-Ledger and confirmed by ESPNNewYork.com. Seubert, 32, is recovering from a serious injury to his kneecap, suffered in the final game of last season.

The veteran guard, who started 62 games in the past four years and is entering his 11th season, had knee surgery to repair his patella and medial collateral ligament and his kneecap in January.

Seubert was the first Giant to arrive at the Timex Performance facility Tuesday, and he was the first to leave. O’Hara also visited the team facility.

The Giants are $6.1 million over the salary cap, according to ESPN.com senior NFL writer John Clayton. O’Hara was due $3.45 million in base salary for this season. Seubert was scheduled to make $2.25 million in base salary. It is uncertain whether the Giants may bring one or both back at less money.

Seubert was described by general manager Jerry Reese as the team’s offensive MVP last year for filling in at center due to O’Hara’s injuries and backup center Adam Koets’ knee injury. Koets had ACL surgery in November.

Left tackle Shawn Andrews is still with the team. According to his agent, Rich Moran, Andrews hasn’t heard from the Giants, who have to decide whether to bring the talented offensive lineman back at a high cap number.

Andrews is scheduled to make $7.5 million this season. When healthy, Andrews is capable of being the starter at left tackle for the Giants. But he had back issues that kept him out of three straight games last season.
