A toddler found wandering in Battery Park City this morning has finally been identified — with cops saying he got lost after his mother was taken to a hospital.
The 3-year-old boy was found at 9:30 a.m. alone inside Teardrop Park, a 2-acre green space between Warren and Murray streets, by North End Avenue.
“His mother was taken to the hospital, and he wandered off,” a police source said. “His grandmother is coming to pick him up.”
The child was wearing a white tank top, red plaid shorts and black sandals at the time.
Police and the Battery Park City Parks Conservancy had desseminated photos of the boy throughout the community to aid in his identification, which took over nine hours.
