“It’s something that probably started out as fun and games, and it turned into something serious,” Quincy police Sgt. Robert Bina told WBZ-TV.

One of four construction workers sitting inside their truck was hit in the face by the mushy missile, and the quartet gave chase to the car driven by Colin Hayes, 19, of Quincy, Mass.

The angry workers trapped the car in a dead-end street on Tuesday afternoon – and Hayes tried to escape by backing his car up, police said.

The teen ran down one of the workers, leaving the man with a compound fracture of his leg, before driving his Nissan off a nearby 10-foot ledge, police said.

The construction worker was taken to Boston Medical Center, while Hayes and his passenger were taken to Quincy Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

Hayes was charged with assault and battery in the incident.
