Police found 34-year-old Joseph Guzman shot numerous times in the head and chest on Southern Boulevard in the Morrisania section of the Bronx.

Cops say a group of men in a car had pulled up to Guzman and a pal and began firing. When Guzman ran, at least one gunman hopped out of the car and fired several times more.

The pal, a 34-year-old man, was shot twice in his right leg and left foot and was taken to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition.

Guzman, who lived just blocks from the scene of the shooting and was about to start working for a fish wholesaler in Hunt’s Point, died at the scene.

“He was out celebrating with his family. That’s why this was so surprising,” said Guzman’s close pal, Raymond Rodriguez, 26.

Guzman was very well-liked around the neighborhood, said his 31-year-old cousin, Cyrjames Bermudez.

“He was everybody’s angel. He would not let nobody beat up on nobody. He stuck up for everybody,” Bermudez said. “He was all about taking care of his family.”

No arrests have yet been made.
