There’s no way you missed Tiffany Greene’s moment yesterday. If you weren’t watching the actual show, you noticed on Twitter that EVERYONE was talking about her. And I say everyone meaning little miss was the number one trending topic WORLDWIDE after her major error on the BET Awards last night. Quick back story: Tiff is a huge Nicki fan and won a contest to present the Viewers Choice Award at the BET Awards alongside Terrance J. and Rocsi. When she went up to present, there was an error in the teleprompter she was reading and it said Chris Brown, which was what Tiffany announced. But then the TABLET said Rihanna and Drake for “What’s My Name” (the error itself is awkward enough…add insult to injury being it RiRi verses Chris!! Yikes!!). She quickly corrected it and Drake took the award. As Wendy reported, Tiff went backstage and was extremely upset and embarrassed and blamed BET. Host Kevin Hart later cleared it up and told viewers that Chris WAS in fact the winner!! Poor girl. BET exec Stephen Hill later apologized (half-assed in my opinion) and Tiffany took to her Twitter and changed her tune. Check it out after the jump.
Stephen Hill tweeted: “That BET Awards Viewer’s Choice mix-up was due to human error. And I was the human that made that error. I apologize to ALL affected.â€
Tiffany was a really good sport about it in the end. She even joked on herself and put up the infamous picture of her shocked reaction as her default picture. “ANYWHO….this lil Nicki fan from Michigan is about to enjoy the rest of her time here. After party. I DEFINITELY need a drink! lol,” she later wrote. “Front page on yahoo, #1 Trending Topic WORLDWIDE, presented at the awards, kisses blown from Nicki, followers? still counting! WINS! lmaoooo.” Then this morning, she really cleared it all up. “Good morning! Had an AMAZING time last night. I’d like to thank @BET for this opportunity & I apologize if anyone was offended by my words. Last night I was tweeting backstage out of pure emotion and nerves. I actually feel a lot better today and the kind words have truly helped.”
Tiff definitely won in all this. She has multiple stations wanting to interview her, she got over 20,000 new followers last night, EVERYONE knows her name and her little appearance on an award show that would have otherwise only been mentioned amongst her friends back home will now go down in history as one of the craziest award show moments!! I think it was worth the little mix-up! Do you?
