Imagine flying from Tokyo to Paris in less than two and a half hours, without having to burn tons of fossil fuel. One day it might be possible. The concept of zero-emissions, supersonic flight is being explored by European aircraft maker, EADS.
If the experts are right, long haul flying has a clean, quiet and very fast future. This is the shape of hyperspeed flying according to designers at EADS, the owners of Airbus. Known as ZEHST, for Zero Emission High Supersonic Transport, the system uses a combination of three different types of engine.
