Major League Soccer champions the Colorado Rapids will be welcomed and honored at The White House by President Barack Obama on Monday, June 27.

Since Obama took office, he has started a tradition of honoring sports teams not just for their championship wins but for their efforts to give back to their communities.

The Rapids are very much involved in the local Denver and statewide community, organizing several youth soccer programs every year and through the Kroenke Sports Charity.

On Tuesday, the Rapids will hold a soccer clinic for children of military families on the White House south lawn, according to 7News.
