Dwight Howard continues to say he would prefer to remain with the Orlando Magic for the long haul, but according to NBA.com, he reiterated on Monday that he will not sign the two-year contract extension the team has offered and said he will become a free agent in the summer of 2012.

Appearing in Treviso, Italy, as part of an adidas promotional tour, Howard made clear that he has told Magic Owner Rich DeVos and CEO Bob Vander Weide that Orlando’s roster needs to improve and have “14 other guys” whose main goal is to win an NBA title.

“Sometimes guys are there wholeheartedly and then sometimes I’ve had teammates allow people getting in their ears and things like that affect the way that they play and approach the game,” Howard said, according to NBA.com.
