Posted by Sabrina B. @gametimegirl – Early congrats to Mike Tyson!
This Sunday Mike Tyson will be doing something that many in boxing, including Tyson himself, never thought he would live to do – stand at a podium and be inducted in the International Boxing Hall of Fame in Canastota, N.Y.
Not that they didn’t think he deserved to be included among the sports all-time greats such as Muhammad Ali, Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano and Sugar Ray Robinson. They just thought if he went in, it would be posthumously.
“It’s a miracle I am still alive. I have lived a wild and strange life,” Tyson said while promoting “Tyson,” a documentary on his life at the Cannes Film Festival two year ago.
Miracle or not, Tyson, 44, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame, joining Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., Kostya Tszyu, trainer Ignacio (Nacho) Beristain, referee Joe Cortez and actor Sylvester Stallone in the 2011 class.
