A Michigan elementary school was locked down after a second-grader brought a grenade to class for show-and-tell.
Principal Steve Netzel immediately called 911 when he learned the explosive device was in the Holt school, about 80 miles west of Detroit.
He then brought the grenade out to the school’s athletic field until cops came.
When the bomb squad arrived, they determined that the device – which dated back from World War II – was inert.
Police said parents needed to be more careful.
“For safety reasons, you gotta know what they’re doing. They shouldn’t have access to weapons of any type or anything that looks like a weapon,” Michigan State Police Sgt. Robert Ott told WLNS-TV.
No one was hurt, and no charges will be filed.
