Derek Jeter got career hit No. 2,980 in last night’s 7-1 win over the Mariners. Which is only because he got career hit No. 1 exactly 16 years ago today against the Mariners. At the Kingdome. He was batting ninth and singled in the 5th. It was the first of two hits on the day, and he scored twice in a 7-3 Yankees loss.
