Could conservative talk-show host Rush Limbaugh be interested in buying an NFL team?

During one of Limbaugh’s shows earlier this week, as transcribed by the host’s website, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, after being asked about the Vikings’ stadium situation, posed an interesting question to Limbaugh.

“The rumor is you’re gonna buy ’em and move ’em. Is that true?” Pawlenty asked.

Limbaugh didn’t exactly dismiss Pawlenty’s question, saying while laughing: “Well, uh, this interview is about you.”

Limbaugh, who had a brief sports career as a director of promotions for the Kansas City Royals in the late 1970s, tried to join a group bidding to buy the St. Louis Rams a few years ago. However, his bid to become a minority owner was rejected by that group.

Limbaugh drew tremendous heat for his comments on veteran quarterback Donovan McNabb several years ago regarding McNabb’s race and media perception. Those comments could be the main reason Limbaugh could be denied a chance to ever be part of any NFL ownership group.
