A Pennsylvania-based group that plans to open an animal sanctuary at the Surry County property where Michael Vick once ran his dog-fighting operation expects to close on the property Friday.
As of May 22, Tipton, Pa.-based Dogs Deserve Better had $176,507 to offer at closing for the former Vick home on Moonlight Road.

The group is soliciting more money for the purchase to help defray costs, including an additional $7,000 for closing.

The more we have in hand at closing, the better,” said Tamira Thayne, the group’s founder.
