Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani Plans on making a second effort to become president, sources close to Giuliani have said he is real close to making his decision. Hit the jump to read the rest of the story.
Here you all were, grimly deciding whether to join the Romney, Pawlenty, or Huntsman for President fan clubs, but still hoping in vain for a white knight to come along and win your heart immediately and forever. Well, good news: Rudy Giuliani, a 1990s mayor, may still run for president. Hosannah in the highest! The search is over, and we should just anoint him King of America right now, since he’s interested.
The Washington Examiner reports this latest presidential trial balloon:
Former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani, whose presidential campaign fizzled in 2008, is leaning toward another race for the White House, according to a close associate. New York Republican Rep. Peter King, who has known Giuliani for more than 40 years, says the former mayor “is very close to saying he’s going to run.”
“If he were to make the decision today, he would run,” says King.
Why does Rudy Giuliani want to go through this all over again, but this time as a second-tier candidate? He’s probably still kicking himself for his atrocious 2008 strategy, which was to skip Iowa, New Hampshire, Michigan, and South Carolina and focus entirely on Florida’s primary, where he’d hoped all the old retirees might remember him from New York City. Only a handful of them did, sadly.
