Surrounded by 50 reporters before he presented the tipoff ball for Game 2 on Wednesday night, former Bull Dennis Rodman was so overcome by the attention that he started crying and disappeared behind some black curtains.

‘‘I know that real men do cry, so I’m not ashamed of that,’’ said Rodman, who will join the Basketball Hall of Fame this year after helping the Bulls win their last three championship rings near the end of an illustrious career. ‘‘I’m just so glad to be here and to still get all this attention. [Chicago] showed me so much love when I played here. I got my jersey retired in Detroit. I made the Hall of Fame. And now all this right here. I could kiss all you guys’ [butts] because you supported me so much.’’

The 6-7 forward and defensive standout played for five different teams and won seven NBA scoring titles during his 14-year career.
