Coming off an emotional and patriotically-charged win in Philadelphia on Sunday evening, the Mets announced that they have donated 4,000 tickets to Tuesday’s game against the Giants to military members and their families.

Working in conjunction with the United Service Organizations, the Mets have already distributed 2,000 tickets to all five branches of the military. In addition, they will make tickets available to the first 2,000 military members who show valid identification Tuesday at Citi Field’s game ticket sales window. Complimentary tickets will become available to military members beginning two hours prior to Tuesday’s 7:10 p.m. ET first pitch, with a limit of six per party.

Coming one day after the White House announced it had captured and killed terrorist Osama bin Laden, the donation compliments the Mets’ season-long policy of providing a free ticket to any active service member who presents a valid military I.D. at the Citi Field ticket office. Mets principal owner Fred Wilpon has long been outspoken in his support of veteran and military aid programs.

To further highlight Tuesday’s event at Citi Field, Marine Corps veteran Sgt. Elizabeth Quiñones will sing “God Bless America” during the seventh-inning stretch.
