Charlie Chaplin was born this very day in 1889, and he would have been 122 years old today! If you’ve lived under a rock your whole life, Charlie was pretty much the most famous comic actor of his time in the silent-film era. He used mime, slapstick and other visual comedy routines, and continued well into the era of the “talkies” (movies with sound), though his films decreased in frequency from the end of the 1920’s.
