The UFC will host an event this September in New Orleans, its first trip to the city in more than a decade.
Officials announced Wednesday that a special “Battle on the Bayou” card has been scheduled for Sept. 17, set to air on Spike TV.
The last UFC card to take place in New Orleans was UFC 27 in September 2000, before the creation of Zuffa, the promotion’s current owner. The state of Louisiana has held six total UFC events, the most recent at Bossier City in May 2002.
The promotion also announced a multiyear extension with sponsor Bud Light and that “Battle on the Bayou” will be the first of a new promotional series under the partnership.
