Tom Zbikowski’s boxing odyssey during the NFL lockout will resume on April 23 with his third fight this year, a scheduled four-round bout against Blake Warner in Thackerville, Okla.

The National Football Post and Baltimore Sun reported Monday that the Baltimore Ravens safety has two more fights scheduled after that: May 21 in Cabazon, Calif., and June 4 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Zbikowski is 3-0 as a professional, his last win a hard-fought four-round decision against Caleb Grummet on March 26 in his first bout with Hall of Fame trainer Emanuel Steward in his corner.

Zbikowski, 75-15 as an amateur, turned pro in 2006 while still at Notre Dame and needed only 49 seconds to knock out Robert Bell at Madison Square Garden. In his second fight, on March 12 in Las Vegas on the Miguel Cotto-Ricardo Mayorga undercard, he needed only 1:45 to stop Richard Bryant.

Zbikowski told SI.com in an interview published last week that he’ll return to the NFL once the lockout ends.

“If I was on a less competitive team, I’d say yes, I could see myself sticking with boxing,” Zbikowski told the website. “But we have been to the AFC Championship Game. We have lost to a team that has been in the Super Bowl two years in a row. It’s tough being that close. Playing in the Super Bowl is something you dream of and there is no way to pass that up.”

Before his last bout, he told the Baltimore Sun that eventually he would like to negotiate an NFL contract that would allow him to continue to box. He is able to fight during the lockout because there is no current collective bargaining agreement — although Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti has said that he thinks it is “awesome” that Zbikowski is boxing.

“Without a doubt — if I can get that worked out — that’s my perfect world,” Zbikowski told the newspaper. “Other people might not feel that same way. If we can get that worked out, I can play at M&T Bank Stadium in the season and fight at M&T Bank Stadium in the offseason.”

Depending on the terms of the next CBA, Zbikowski might be an unrestricted free agent in 2012. He is a restricted free agent this offseason.
