We’ve seen the Smith children in the spotlight a lot this year with 12-year-old Jaden’s award-winning 2010 remake of ‘The Karate Kid’ and and current tour with Justin Beiber along with 10-year-old Willow’s budding musical career. But in a backlash, many are blaming Jada and Will for “exploiting” their children. Jada has spoken out against those accusations, read more after the jump!!
She tells Britain’s Daily Mail, “Our children are allowed to stay in the paradigm of being a child. They don’t have to take care of their families: become the complete emotional, physical, and financial focus that happens to many child stars. Our family structure is a little different and it’s quite hard to comprehend because it’s so outside what usually happens in a family, but the paradigm is the same.”
At the same time, Jada recognizes the huge following her children have, and that she must keep a watchful eye on their growth. “I will not overlook that. I have a 10-year-old who can stand up in front of an audience of 17,000 and rock the house. I have to keep her grounded.”
Jada has made it clear that her parenting skills should not be scrutinized. And you can definitely tell the Smith children have been raised properly after listening to some of Willow’s interviews! What do you guys think?
