Testimony in the Barry Bonds perjury trial Tuesday focused on former ballplayers who obtained designer steroids from the ex-Giant slugger’s trainer.
The first athletes called to the witness stand were brothers Jason and Jeremy Giambi.
Jason Giambi was part of a United States All-Star team that toured Japan in 2002 when he met Bonds’ trainer, Greg Anderson. According to testimony, Giambi tested positive for steroids after returning to the U.S. and Anderson suggested he take two products now known as “the cream” and “the clear” instead.
Giambi paid $10,000 for several shipments which included syringes and a calendar instructing him when he should take the substances.
