I’m not sure how you go to the hospital thinking that you have a severe stomach ache and end up leaving with a new born child…or how for 9 months you are unaware that you are even carrying a child. Women that this happens to often say that their body had no changes and they just did not know. I really think this is crazy!!! A 35-year-old mother-of-two – who had no idea that she was pregnant with her third child – delivered a healthy 9-pound baby boy after going to the hospital with a severe stomachache, The Daily Mail reported.
Lesley Nicholl from England said she was amazed when she was told she was carrying a baby who was already a few days overdue. Hours later, she gave birth via cesarean section at Homerton Hospital, in East London.
Nicholl said she had scans and tests at the hospital to figure out what was wrong – but she was still in major pain.
“Eventually they discovered there was this baby inside me, right up against my rib cage,†she said
Dr. Manny Alvarez, senior managing health editor of FoxNews.com and chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Science at Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey, said while it seems absurd that a woman would not know she was pregnant – it does happen.
“I have seen this before. There are many women who may have irregular periods, and they don’t realize it when they become pregnant. Some of these women are overweight, and therefore do not perceive movement as the fetus grows,†he said. “Because of this, many of these women do not see a doctor. I remember 20 years ago, a patient came into the emergency room complaining of cramps. Upon examining her, I realized that she was pregnant and about to give birth.â€
Nicholl and her son, Nicholas, are both recovering and doing well.
