On the eve of Lohan’s felony court date, Kamofie & Co., the jewelry store from which the troubled actress purportedly lifted a $2,500 diamond necklace, has announced plans to auction off the bauble to the highest bidder and donate the proceeds to charity.

A rep for Kamofie says that the store’s owner just wants to have something “good” come out of the Lindsay fiasco (presumably aside from all the free publicity Kamofie’s been generating on top of the payday from its sale of the surveillance tape).

“We invite the public to make suggestions as to the most appropriate charity to receive the benefit of the sale’s proceeds,” sats spokesman Christopher Spencer, adding that people can do so at necklacevideo.com.

The auction will not take place until after the criminal case against the Mean Girls star is resolved since the necklace is currently being held as evidence should the case go to trial.
