Heavyweights Brock Lesnar and Junior dos Santos will meet June 11 in Vancouver, B.C., as the main event for UFC 131, The Ultimate Fighting Championship confirmed Thursday.

The card marks UFC’s return to Vancouver for the first time since its debut there last summer.

Lesnar and dos Santos currently are in Las Vegas wrapping the final stages of production for Season 13 of “The Ultimate Fighter.”

The latest version of Spike TV’s reality show, which features 14 welterweight prospects coached by Lesnar (5-2) and dos Santos (12-1), airs March 30 through June 4.

One week later, the heavyweight pair will clash at Rogers Arena, according to UFC.com’s “Ultimate Insider.”

The heavy-hitting dos Santos is Lesnar’s first opponent since the mammoth wrestler lost his UFC title to Cain Velasquez last October. Dos Santos, meanwhile, has skyrocketed into contention with six consecutive wins in UFC-promoted fights since joining the company in 2008.

Dos Santos was next in line to challenge Velasquez (9-0). However, Velasquez is out of action for up to eight months following rotator cuff surgery to his right shoulder. He is expected to return by August.

“Junior earned his shot at a title against Cain Velasquez, but unfortunately, Cain Velasquez got hurt,” dos Santos’ manager, Ed Soares, told ESPN.com. “But life works in weird ways. [Junior] becoming a coach on ‘The Ultimate Fighter,’ and getting an opportunity to fight such a big name like Brock, in the long run is probably going to help his career more.

“When he does get through Brock and gets the opportunity to fight for the title, the fight will become bigger than if he’d not fought Brock first. We’re definitely looking forward to June 11.”
