The Wiesmann Spyder concept ticks off all the right boxes for the minimalist speed freak. The styling – supposedly cribbed from the Wiesmann brothers’ earliest designs – won’t stand your hair on end, but everything attached and hidden underneath the blue amorphous bodywork adds up to an uncompromised driving experience.

Wiesmann claims the Spyder comes in under 2,200 pounds and can accelerate to 62 mph in a scant four seconds before topping out at face-melting 180 mph. There’s no windscreen, no doors and nothing but a steering wheel-mounted LCD to keep tabs on the 420-horsepower front-midship V8.
Wiesmann is calling this a design study for now, but word is that a production model could go on sale as early as 2012, with yet another BMW powerplant under-hood.
