(BS) – He’s already a headliner of the upcoming, huge Coachella Music Festival, but now, Kanye West has signed on to headline yet another festival — a little one called Lollapalooza.
Festival organizer, Perry Farrell, announced this week the line-up for the inaugural Lollapalooza Chile in South America, going down the first two days of April.
In addition to Kanye, the two-day festival’s headliners also include rockers The Killers, Farrell’s Jane’s Addiction, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, as well as 50-plus acts performing on five stages at O’Higgins Park in Santiago.
For close to 20 years, as one of each year’s most anticipated music festivals, Lollapalooza is expanding with a unique event for the first time in South America.
The event will feature two outdoor main stages, an electronic arena stage, and a small alternative stage, plus — like Lollapalooza in North America — an all-ages Kidzapalooza stage for family fun.
“The job we did to gather these artists for 2011 was remarkable,” said Farrell. “Imagine gathering 60 artists while the contract ink is still wet. We put it together at a record pace as we had four months. We did not want to come to Chile with a lineup that was anything other than world-class, and my partners Marc Geiger of WME and Charles Attal of C3 have been absolutely integral to Lollapalooza Chile launching in 2011.
“Our selections are very animated, with much diversity. There is Chilean talent in the mix. Now that the lineup is announced here, we are going back to Chile to work on the other aspects of the festival.”
Farrell also said he hopes the Chile festival will be a success, so it can continue every year from here on out.
