Super Bowl XLV is now the first matchup of players with potentially million-dollar hair.
With Steelers safety Troy Polamalu’s signature long locks already endorsed by Head & Shoulders, Packers linebacker Clay Matthews III formed his own partnership with Suave shampoo Wednesday.
According to a CNBC report, Matthews’ marketing agent Ryan Williams said the one-year deal with Unilever calls for pre- and- post-Super Bowl media appearances and a possible commercial.
The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed by Williams.
When asked Monday about getting his own hair endorsement deal to match his fellow USC Trojan Polamalu, Matthews was enthusiastic.
“I’ve been throwing it out there and just getting shunned. I don’t know what it is…America, I’m looking for a hair deal.”
Polamalu has appeared in Head & Shoulders commercials, and his hair is sponsored and insured by the company for $1 million.
Matthews was a first-round draft pick in 2009, and was named to his second Pro Bowl this season after recording 60 tackles and 13.5 sacks. Polamalu, a six-time Pro Bowler, has anchored the Steeler defense since 2003, winning two Super Bowls.
