Imagine getting on your flight already nervous about flying across the ocean to only find out that your pilot (who you are trusting with your life!!!) shows up to work drunk!!!!

A Delta pilot meant to fly from London’s Heathrow airport showed up so drunk for his flight that he has been jailed for six months, according to the Daily Mail.
Boston-based pilot George La Perle was 4.5 times over the legal limit when he showed up to co-captain a Boeing 767 with 240 passengers to Detroit. La Perle, with 20 years of flying experience, claimed that he was flying to New York.
La Perle was stopped by security and was found to have 89 milligrams of alcohol in his system (the legal limit for pilots is 20 milligrams per 100 milliliters of blood). It was later discovered that he was an alcoholic.
According to the Daily Mail, during sentencing the judge told La Perle: “You knew that you were about to co-pilot a Boeing 767 across the Atlantic with all that entails, yet you had consumed alcohol which, at the time that you arrived at Heathrow Airport, was showing that you were four times over the prescribed aviation limit. The consequences for the passengers on that plane, if you had piloted for any stage of that journey, which was a distinct possibility bearing in mind that is what you were employed to do, were potentially catastrophic.”
Back in September, a Delta pilot was removed from a flight in Amsterdam after it was found that he, too, was drunk.
