A federal judge has ruled against a company that has been using Bob Marley’s image in making and selling toys and apparel.
Leo Valencia, owner of Avela, has been ordered to pay the reggae legend’s family $300,000 in damages after the family complained that they didn’t want to see Bob Marley’s image portrayed on bobbleheads and plush toys. Read more after the jump…
The judge is expected to award more damages after determining if there was more profit lost because of unfair competition.
This is huge for the family considering just a few months ago they lost a lawsuit in obtaining the rights to some of Marley’s most famous songs.
