The Braves have signed Dan Uggla to a five-year, $62 million extension, SI.com has confirmed, giving him the highest annual salary ever for a second baseman.
Uggla, who the Braves acquired from the Marlins in November, had previously turned down a four-year, $48 million deal from Florida, prompting his trade.
Uggla, 30, is the first second baseman in history to hit 30 or more home runs in four straight seasons. Last year he hit 33 homers to go along with a .287 average and a career-best 105 RBIs in 159 games.
