An injury to snowmobile star Levi LaVallee has prompted the cancellation of “Red Bull: New Year. No Limits” on New Year’s Eve, which was to be televised on ESPN.

A seven-time Winter X Games medalist, LaVallee was injured Tuesday while practicing the distance jump, in which he is the current world record holder.
LaVallee remains hospitalized in a Los Angeles-area hospital, but is expected to make a full recovery and to return to competition.

A native of Longville, Minn., LaVallee recently jumped 361 feet, which far exceeded the current record of 301.5 feet, set in March 2009 by Paul Thacker. LaVallee’s jump is expected to be submitted for consideration as a new world record.
