The New York Giants are having trouble getting to Minnesota for their game against the Vikings.

With about a foot of blowing snow falling in the Twin Cities area and closing the airport Saturday afternoon, the Giants’ charter flight was forced to land in Kansas City. Team spokesman Pat Hanlon said on Twitter the team will spend the night there.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said Sunday’s game was still scheduled to start at 1 p.m. EST, with the Giants planning to fly to Minnesota on Sunday morning.

Vikings quarterback Brett Favre is aiming to make his NFL-record 298th straight start, with a sprained shoulder that has made throwing difficult. He’s listed as questionable to play the Giants.

Two feet of snow is expected from this storm, which caused the Giants to change their plans once, earlier on Saturday morning. They left New Jersey around 9:30 a.m., about 3½ hours earlier than their usual charter flights. They hoped to get to Minnesota before the worst of the storm.

A restaurant in the Kansas City airport offered to make the Giants barbecue sandwiches, so players were still in good spirits.

Giants defensive end Justin Tuck bypassed the famed barbeque for a Kansas City-based restaurant called In-A-Tub that specializes in tacos. He and several defensive players chose the tacos over the barbecue sandwiches.

“I bet we end up having a walk-through in one of the hangars,” said Tuck.
