We all have clothes that are designated “weekend at home” clothes or “laundry day” clothes. But most of us have the foresight and keen understanding of social norms to realize that under no circumstances are these clothes worn outside the house.

Leading by non-example are people who give no thought to what they throw on before going into public — you know, that outside-space where other people, who have eyes and functioning knowledge of agreed-upon manners, can see you. The t-shirt, already among the most casual articles of clothing, has in recent years become one of the primary mediums to convey that you just don’t care what others think.
