Martin said Wednesday he was fined $40,000 for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Browns TE Evan Moore in Sunday’s loss to Cleveland.
The large dollar amount can be credited to the fact that Martin is a repeat offender. The 2009 second-round pick out of Troy was fined $5,000 after a Week 1 hit on Giants TE Kevin Boss.
Martin declined to comment, but teammates expressed their frustation.
“When you start tackling lower they’re going to come up with a rule like that,” Carolina CB Captain Munnerlyn to the AP. “I’m really kind of lost in this situation.”
