While watching Monday’s game between the Philadelphia Eagles—his former team—and the Washington Redskins, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Terrell Owens weighed in about his former teammate’s new contract.

On Monday, Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb signed a five-year extension worth $78 million—with $40 million guaranteed. Everybody was anxious to see how McNabb would perform against the team he spent the first 11 years of his career just a few hours after his new deal was announced.

If anything, one would think Michael Vick was the one who deserved the hefty new deal with the way Monday’s game turned out.

McNabb struggled for the second-straight game as the Redskins were embarrassed by the Eagles 59-28. On the night, McNabb completed 17 of 31 passes for 295 yards with two touchdowns and a season-high three interceptions. While there were times when McNabb looked impressive with his deep throws, there were just as many times where he missed passes that should have been completed.

Over the years, McNabb and Owens have had an interesting relationship since their divorce during the 2005 season. Considering how these two always seem to find attention when one mentions the other, it should be no surprise a message from Owens’ Twitter account about McNabb’s performance against the Eagles is making headlines.

“How do u justify a 78 million dollar contract w/this type of performance?”

The funny thing is, Owens seems right in this situation considering most analysts feel the exact same way about McNabb’s extension. It’s hard to believe anyone would be willing to give a veteran with more interceptions than touchdowns (11 to 9) through nine games that type of money.
