Chargers 29 v. Texans 23 - Philip Rivers against the Houston Texans’ defense seems like a mismatch. The San Diego quarterback leads the league with 2,649 yards passing through the first eight games, and is on target to break Dan Marino’s single-season record of 5,084 yards in 1984. He also has a touchdown pass in a team-record 21 consecutive games.
Saints 34Â v. Panthers 3 – Saints Shockey left the game with rib injuries & Panthers lose QB Moore & RB Stewart to injuries. Drew Brees completed 27 of 43 passes and threw for 253 yards and 2 TD. The Panthers fall to 1-7 and the Saints move to 6-3 and second in the division.
Patriots 14 v. Browns 34 – A tough loss to swallow for the Patriots as they are overpowered by Head Coach Eric Mangini’s Browns. For the Browns, rookie QB Colt McCoy scrambled for a TD and RB Peyton Hills rushed for 184 yards and two TDs. Cleveland is now 3-5 overall with two impressive wins in the last three weeks.
Bucs 21 v. Falcons 27 – Falcons RB Michael Turner scored two early TDs and Bucs QB Josh Freeman throws two costly interceptions as the Atlanta holds  off Tampa Bay. The Bucs had been undefeated on the road until today. The Falcons not take over sole possession of first place in the NFC South.
Bears 22 v. Bills 19 – Merriman joined the Bills this week, but will wait to play next week. Bears CB Tim Jennings made a key interception early in the fourth quarter to keep the Bills from padding their 19-14 lead and RB Chester Taylor scored on a 1-yard plunge for the Bears, who came out of their bye week to end a two-game skid. Bears QB Jay Cutler threw for 188 YDS and 2 TDs in the win.
Dolphins 10 v. Ravens 26 – Dolphins QB Chad Henne had 3 interceptions, Ravens Flacco had 2 TDs and 266 yrds, 0 interceptions. Â Ravens ended Dolphins 4-0 road streak
Jets 23 v. Lions 20 – Lions QB Matt Stafford threw two touchdown passes and ran for a score in the loss. Jets QB Mark Sanchez scored a TD on a quarterback sneak with 2:46 left in regulation and led a nine-play drive that set up Nick Folk’s 36-yard kick to send the game into OT. The Jets won the coin toss and Mark Sanchez threw a 52-yard pass to Santonio Holmes to set up Nick Folk’s 30-yard field goal, lifting the Jets to a win over the Lions.
