What’s better than a father and son catching a World Series game together?
How about throwing out the first pitch together. And did we mention that this particular father and son pairing are former United States presidents?

The ceremonial first pitch for Sunday’s Game 4 of the World Series will be thrown out by former presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

George W. Bush, the 43rd president who lives in Dallas, was the managing general partner of the Texas Rangers from 1989-94 and maintained partial ownership of the team until 1998.

According to Baseball Almanac’s website, he threw out seven ceremonial first pitches while serving from 2001-2009. Interestingly, none of those games involved the Rangers. Home teams went 6-1 in those games. After his presidency, he threw out the first pitch of the Rangers’ 2009 opener, which they won.

George H.W. Bush, the 41st president who served from 1989-93, also is an avid baseball fan, frequently attending Houston Astros games. While in office, Bush threw out eight ceremonial first pitches, including the 1992 All-Star Game.

It’s worth noting that home teams went 5-2 in those games. Two of those games involved the Rangers, including one at Arlington Stadium in 1991. The Rangers lost both games.

Another president — Nolan Ryan, the Rangers’ co-owner and team president — will throw out the first pitch prior to Saturday’s Game 3, the first World Series home game in franchise history.
