Vh1′s show which was shelved for sometime before making a return last year, is now in its thirteenth year and honoring the military, rather than themselves this year.
Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Sugarland and Keri Hilson will tape the event in front of the troops at San Diego’s Marine Corps Air Station Miramar; while Paramore satellite in from a military base in the Middle East. For two participants it’s already a family cause: Hilson’s father served in the Army, and Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles’ brother is currently in the Air Force.
Honoring the troops is a great cause, but is this lineup really “diva” worthy?? [Other past entertainers on “VH1 Divas” include Kelly Clarkson, Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Hudson, Leona Lewis, Tina Turner, Diana Ross, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Aretha Franklin, Mary J. Blige, Shania Twain, Faith Hill, Whitney Houston and Beyonce.]
Vh1 Divas Salute the Troops premieres December 5 and will also be broadcast internationally on the Armed Forces Network.
